You know you are a crazy chicken lady when...

1. You bring home leftovers from the restaurant for the chickens of the type that most people do not bring home (leftover rice, other people's leftovers, the taco bowl from the taco salad). You also bring home the lightly used and unused table napkins.

2. You have a "grey paper" system. Which is, you dry and reuse kitchen paper towels and wipes (like what you wrapped produce in). The good ones get used for chicken sleeping pads, and the small bits get used for cleaning up poo.

3. You let the pet and rescue baby chickens in on rainy days. Except the baby is in all the time on rainy days, and before bed.

4. You bring the chicken into your bed for naps.

5. The baby chicken knows his way across the house from the living room couch to the dining room where his food dish is.

6. You have a chicken dispensary in the fridge, meal worms and crickets in the shed. The crickets are rewards for coming when called and the worms are operative conditioning training treats.

7. You have the Merck Veterinary manual bookmarked.

8. Getting pooed on while cuddling the chickens is no big deal.

9. You know the chickens by their feather colourations and face.

10. You come running when you here the high grade alarm call.

11. You actually know the significance of more than seven calls.

12. You are starting a PhD in animal behaviour using chickens as a model system!
