Famous Five get a new home! and new baby chicken.

The Famous Five have gone to a new home in Hilo. The chicken feeding frenzy had become very spastic and it was time to move some away. These five were the oldest of this years chicks, and all seem to be little poulets, so today as they were feeding in the aviary, Ben shut the door of them. They were gathered into one large carrier and transported to there new home. They were quick to get over the "trauma" of capture and after cautiously emerging from the carrier trotted down to a bunch of bamboo and started scratching in the decomposing leaves. I think they will be happy in their new home.

On another note, we have had a new chickie for three nights. he came to us sick and droopy and we treated him with Sulmet for coccidiosis. He seems to be getting better, but still sleeps a lot and needs coaxing to eat, but at least his poo is normal now.
