Life outside the chickens- Hawaii Vanilla Company Casablanca Dinner

Last night, for our 6th wedding anniversary (which is actually today), my husband and I attended the Hawaii Vanilla Company Casablanca Dinner. The Food was fabulous, the setting spectacular and the after dinner dancing was great fun. The dinner consisted of a five course meal, all Moroccan food. We arrived at the Vanilla Company at 6pm and were seated in their main dining area. We were served our choice of red or white wine, and then were treated to the traditional Moroccan hand wash with lemon water... very refreshing.

Our first course was Matlouh, a Moroccan flat bread served with Baba Ganoush, Hummus, Moroccan Pepper and Squash salad and Spiced olives.

Then, we had North African Vegetable Soup of carrot, parsnip and pumpkin.with Moroccan spices and vanilla essence.

We followed the soup up with Bisteeya , a delicious pastry made withwith paper thin pastry, chicken, almonds and aromatic spices.

the main course was heavenly, we were offered a sampler dish with several Moroccan dishes: Tagine - Succulent, slowly roasted meats ((chicken, beef, lamb) and vegetables in an aromatic blend of North African spice with a hint of vanilla essence. We were also served couscous with chickpeas and apricots (nice and fluffy with rich flavour) and moussaka; eggplant, lentils, squash, beans, mushrooms, layered and roasted with spices.

By the end of the main course, we were pretty stuffed by managed to try some dessert which was oh so delicious Serpent cake and Moroccan Coffee and Dates. We finished the meal off with Moroccan Mint Tea (my favorite).

After dinner we were taught some beginner's ballroom dancing (Foxtrot, two-step, jittergug abd waltz), and completed the evening with dance. What a great evening!

If you have not tried any of the Vanilla Tea company's events, you should do so. All their food is great, my favorite is the Upcountry Tea!
