Introducing Angelica

On tuesday, we went to dinner at a friends house, and ended up bringing home a chicken. She has many rescue animals including, 2 donkeys, 2 goats, 2 rex rabbits, a silkie rooster, 2 dogs, a feral cat colony and a wild chicken colony of ~100 birds. Of course, I notice the sick little one, and took her home and names her Angelica.

She had been pecked a lot and her left eye was in bad shape. The next day it was half swollen shut so we started her on an eye ointment and antibiotic for cocciodosis and infection.

Angelica is very sweet, soft to touch and very docile. That may have been in problem in the wild population. Her future is undecided, she needs to finish her treatment regime and we will see how she grows. Likely, she will be a companion to Onyx and when she is older and bigger, be released to teh wild with Onyx. then they will be a mini flock of two among the larger population.

If they come from the wild, I try to return them to the wild, as long as they are healthy and prepared.
