Waltzing Bob

The whole point of this video is to show Bob doing the stereotypical waltzing "dance" that is associated with mating in fowl (except that in one study, of 137 waltzes analysed only 3 resulted in a rooster mounting a hen- Wood-Gush 1956) He has a bit of a quaver vocalisation, and whenever I see males do the "dance" females never seem to enjoy it. So, exactly what is he accomplishing with this dance? Males will also do this when first introduced to an unfamiliar hen (what is he displaying? his nice healthy wing feathers?). Males will also do this to other males, which may grade into a frontal attack.
